Does anyone have any Vids or memories of "Game for a laugh"? A 1980sish UK show. It featured some fun messy games, with, some would say unfortunately, mostly guys getting creamed. My favourite memory was a game, where 2 couples were pulled from the audience. The game was then revealed it involve a screen with 2 shuttered windows and a table of cream pies. The host then said that the game was going to be a test of women's intuition. Each guy in turn was asked to go behind the screen and place their face behind one of the windows. The women were then asked to pick up a pie. They were told they would be throwing the pie at one of the windows. They were then asked if they were going for a hit or a miss. Hit they both giggled. Then on the count of 3 the pies were thrown, the shutters dropped, the guys face briefly appeared before getting splattered in pie. The host announcing the Women's intuition had been proven and asking the audience to applaud the 4 players who were "Game for a laugh".
I remember there was a tube with two couple in it where they got covered in chocolate by "Lenny the lever". Dressed in boiler suits though I think. Sarah Kennedy also did a mud football thing. Like to see some pics too if folks have any. I haven't...
This picture is from an early issue of Splosh! magazine (A publicity still of the aforementioned Gloob Tube moment on GFAL that Bill probably obtained from an agency).
It's generally remembered that men were, by far, the most frequent victims of jokes or mess on that show. Very few people had video recorders then (1981-85) and evidently fewer still were moved to record Game For A Laugh and so surviving clips are rare.
There is a fairy well circulated clip of a woman's husband being dipped in water in shirt and tie.
I remember Jeremy Beadle being made to lie down in a bath tub and two concrete mixers filled with grey 'goo' got poured in. He clambered out completely covered in the stuff.

Fantastic - shame its in B&W - she looks very happy!

They would be asked a very difficult question and face the mucky consequences.
Were there ever any women or was it just guys? A lot of shows used to be pretty biased. I remember one BBC show with adults having very few women got messed up in the end game where they used to sit under made up substances.
Great question, there is no footage. Off very vague memory no women ever sat on the pie chair. Hope I am wrong. It's the same for Kenny Everett star quiz, I think all male.

I had never seen the Kenny Everett stuff. That's a real shame no women ever got to sit under that - its pretty damn messy and I suspect that they would have been wearing something very pretty!

Yes it was allmale on the star quiz .Terry wogan ,Micheal Aspel and Bernard Manning i recall.a real pity as the goo was very thick and colourful ,would love to have seen a woman on the receiving end .
Very little of GFAL seems to be in circulation. I remember one of the reputable DVD companies listing it for release a few years back but it never happened, probably very difficult to get the permissions for one thing.
A few items I recall are Sarah Kennedy being deluged in mud and the 'Tube' mentioned above. That was in a number of epidodes. Also a pie conveyor belt where the person lays at the end and the pie falls off onto their face.
Women getting messed was rare - my theory is that it came down to chivalry. The only show in TV history that was actually biased towards women 'gungees' was Noel's Saturday Roadshow, the first series of which was almost entirely females. Series 2 began to alternate. I always found Noel's House Party a disappointment by comparison.

I agree "you can,t to that to a woman" was a train of thought back then. Charlie Cairoli wasnt afraid to mess up woman in his "Right Charlie series in the 70,s.
